Transfer Summary

Tottenham is significantly improved after a couple of proven players coming into the club, most notably in a crucial area of right wing-back, which has been a weak link until now.

Pedro Porro is the headline news and one player that significantly improves the XI. He joins from Sporting Lisbon and is a player that Antonio Conte had wanted since the Winter window of 2022, hence the reason Spurs met the inflated release clause of 45m euros to sign the wingback.

Underlining just how highly the Porro is rated by the boss, both Doherty and Spence were sent out on loans abroad when Spurs had confirmed the new signing. Should he get injured, this may backfire, however!

Pedro Porro – a quick, technical, and powerful attacking right back with excellent experience at playing right wing-back which is crucial. He was a key player at RWB for his last two clubs, Sporting, and before that Girona where he shone in his spot.

It will be interesting to see how well he defends in the EPL, but for certain he will make Spurs a notably stronger side going forward.

Porro is far more technical than Emerson Royal, who is now the only other recognised right wing-back in the squad. If he connects well with Kulusevski then the right wing will go from being a weak link to an asset.

Danjuma – he is an exciting player which prefers to play down the left side, though he can also be used behind the striker or on the right wing. Danjuma has settled quickly, scoring on his debut as a sub in fact, and at the very least will be a good addition to the squad. His chances of getting starts on merit depend on Heung Min Son’s form.

The winger was previously at Villarreal where he was a key player. He was at Bournemouth before joining the Spanish side but struggled at this level during that time.

Conte cleared out the right backs by sending Doherty and the seldom-used Djed Spence, both going on loan along with Bryan Gil, loved by the Spurs fans but more for his effort than his ability to positively impact games.
