In order to swoop for former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa, Everton may be ready to part ways with current manager Frank Lampard.
Following a string of subpar performances by his team, Lampard is under pressure.
This pressure was increased even further after a week in which his team suffered two defeats, one in the league and one in the EFL Cup, to Premier League rivals Bournemouth.
As the club’s top brass consider Bielsa as a replacement, Lampard’s job may now be “on the line.”
And Bournemouth is the team that Everton may once more face competition from, this time off the field, as the Toffees consider interfering with Bournemouth’s hiring of Bielsa in order to bring the Argentine to Goodison Park.
For this to happen, of course, a lot of things would have to take place in a short space of time.
Before Bournemouth, who are in “advanced talks” with the erratic coach, manage to land him themselves, Everton would need to fire Lampard, hold talks with Bielsa, and come to an agreement on terms.
Despite this, Everton has been successful in luring high-profile players to the club during the Farhad Moshiri era. In the last seven years, Carlo Ancelotti, Ronald Koeman, and Rafael Benitez have all served as head coaches.
Regardless of where he ends up, Bielsa’s return to the Premier League will undoubtedly generate excitement.
He helped Leeds return to the promised land of England’s top division, earning him hero status there.
Local supporters were outraged when Bielsa was fired by Leeds last season, and they are still getting used to Jesse Marsch as his successor.
After a successful playing career, Lampard’s transition to management has been up and down.
After a stint at Derby, he returned to Chelsea, where he was fired following a lacklustre start to the 2020–2021 season.
Last year, Lampard joined Everton and helped the team avoid relegation.
The Everton supporters, who are renowned for being quick to criticise coaches, haven’t been impressed with their team’s recent performances.
With only eleven goals this season, they are currently ranked 17th in the division. This is the joint-lowest goal total in the division.
Both Bournemouth and Everton fans alike will be interested to see who graces their touchline come the Premier League restart.
