Matchday 6 of the 2021/22 Premier League season was very eventful with a lot of goals and shocks in various matches. The gameweek has ended with Liverpool at the top of the table with 14 points, as they are the only unbeaten team left in the division. They are followed by a pack of five teams – Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton and Brighton – who are all just one point behind the Reds with 13 points.
The weekend saw a total of 26 goals scored throughout 10 matches, with 24 different goalscorers and no player was able to score more than one goal – other than Jamie Vardy, who scored two goals for Leicester City and an own goal as well.
The weekend started with Guardiola’s Man City beating Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge and Aston Villa shocking Manchester United with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford. There were plenty of goals in the remaining games on Saturday, as it ended with a great high-scoring game of football when Brentford and Liverpool drew 3-3 in a six-goal thriller. Sunday saw Wolves win 1-0 at Southampton, while Arsenal beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at the Emirates in the North London derby. The match week ended with a 1-1 draw between Crystal Palace and Brighton on Monday night.
With so many goals scored, the race for the Premier League Golden Boot has heated with a lot of strikers and goalscorers joining the party. Jamie Vardy is currently the joint-leading goalscorer along with Antonio and Salah with five goals each. They are followed closely by Ismaila Sarr, Bruno Fernandes and Neal Maupay, who have four goals each. A lot of other goalscorers and strikers are following in closely with three or two goals so far in the league this season.
