In what was worrying news for Chelsea, midfielder Kante was withdrawn from the French team to face Iceland on Friday night after originally being named in the starting lineup. If this injury is finally confirmed, then Chelsea might have a problem on their hand.
The Frenchman has been an integral part of the Chelsea squad with him being the strength of the Chelsea midfield. If he is out of the game this weekend, his absence will really be missed.
In what would be another major blow to Chelsea and Frank Lampard, defender Andreas Christensen looked as though he may have also picked up an injury while on international duty.
The 23-year-old was spotted holding his groin as he limped off during Denmark’s 1-0 win over Switzerland on Saturday evening.
The extent of the problem is yet to be revealed, but the concern is that the defender will be unavailable for the Premier League visit of Newcastle after the international break.
The Italian left back picked up an injury while on his last international break. He however made his return against Liverpool where he played just 15 minutes before being substituted.
Speaking ahead of the meeting with Brighton last week, Lampard confirmed that the defender could make his return after the international break.
The Croatian midfielder picked up a knock in the build-up to Gareth Bale’s equaliser for Wales at the end of the first half, with Kovacic being replaced by Ivan Rakitic.
