Among the struggles from Brighton loss at Goodison Park has been the tussle of Dominic Calvert-Lewin with protector Shane Duffy. Calvert-Lewin, 22, has been in fine form for Everton of overdue along with the English striker has eight goals to his name at the Premier League this year. Together with Harry Kane Calvert Lewin, alongside Tammy Abraham of Chelsea, is in contention to help fill the void. Despite not scoring against Albion he had been hugely impressive as he stood-up nicely to the battle with Duffy but also had the expertise and the pace to cause problems.

Richarlison scored the winner with a first-half attack that was well-taken and Bernard, who operated in a deeper role, was excellent but it had been Calvert-Lewin who caught the eye. Speaking in the zone after the match, the striker looked like he’d been in a battle. He was sporting a cut on the back of his head and wore heavy strapping.”It was about getting back to basics and trying to acquire the individual battles. It was a physical battle from a big middle half,” he smiled. “He (Duffy) likes the physical conflict and he enjoys the ball from the atmosphere to be obtained. I do so it was a good competition today and that I enjoyed the struggle.”Both Carlo Ancelotti and patted their striker as he continued his interview and warmly Duncan Ferguson walked past. “I did not really reach the back of the internet. I give as a good as I get when a guardian would like to go me up, and I will always enjoy it.”I see it as a challenge and also for me personally it is about coming out on top. I love to think I did alright today.”He did do alright, better than okay.

Ancelotti has worked with and attracted out strikers such as Alexandre Pato, Filippo Inzaghi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Karim Benzema. In Calvert-Lewin the Italian includes a player to coach and enhance who coming and is maturing into his form. That must be great news for Everton and England.
