Following Chelsea’s dismal form where they have lost their last four out of five Premier League matches, manager Frank Lampard is hoping the January window comes faster than Christmas. In the past, Chelsea are known to splash the cash that they have at their disposal. But, since a transfer ban in the summer, there have been more outgoings than ingoing’s at Stamford Bridge. Now that the transfer ban was cut short, the Blues are now able to spend big in the winter transfer window. Chelsea are known to do good business in January in which they have signed the likes of Olivier Giroud, Gonzalo Higuain, and Christian Pulisic.
Even though Lampard might be happy with the squad he has, there is always room to add. As always the Blues are linked with numerous players. However, if it is believed that Lampard has a transfer kitty of £150m to spend, he should go all out and raid two superstars from the Bundesliga. Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner are two names that have been linked with a move to West London and the Chelsea fans would welcome the pair at the club. Both featured in a title race fixture this week where both scored on the night and Sancho claiming another assist.
The German international is currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga at RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner. His goal tally continues to show why he is one of the top strikers in Europe with a goal tally of 16 in 15 Bundesliga matches has got Chelsea swopping. His ability to run in behind and play out wide is a good option for Lampard to have and Werner can also provide competition for Chelsea talisman Tammy Abraham. Lampard may feel the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud aren’t good enough to use from the bench in matches where Chelsea require a goal or see a game out. But, with Werner, you have a different level of striker as an acquisition.
A reported £30m release clause is all it takes for someone to snap up an inform striker even though it is hard to see the German international move in January after RB Leipzig’s position in the Champions League. Chelsea fans will hope Werner can latch onto a Sancho pass to slot home after the January transfer window.
The fact that Sancho is a boyhood Chelsea fan and grew up idolising the manager is a massive factor in the move. Inevitably, a reason as to why Eden Hazard switched Chelsea in favour of Real Madrid.
He’d also be playing with mates he grew up playing with and plays with them regularly in the England team. These two elements could prove decisive in bringing him to Chelsea, but, also it gives him a better chance of enjoying it where he succeeds.
For a football factor, he is an unreal talent. At the age of 19, he already has 26 first team goals and registered 32 assists in his career. Again, he is the first player in Europe’s top five leagues this season to hit 10 goals and 10 assists in a campaign… unreal for a 19-year-old playing in a different league.
Sancho moving to Chelsea could prove to be a Hazard replacement, as youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi is still trying to find his feet following a long injury lay off. Overall Sancho fits what Lampard is trying to accomplish at Chelsea, young English talent who have exceptional quality. The move would certainly not be risk-free, especially at the astronomical fee, Chelsea will have to pay. But, if you have the money at Chelsea, they more than likely will go out and spend it.
