Crystal Palace 0-1 Manchester City – Betting Review
Looking at the betting markers. On the 1×2 outcome, Manchester City won the game and deservedly so. However, their odds drifted to around 3.15 around the time of their winning goal. They began the match around 1.35 to win.
The Under 2.5 goals also was the winning bet along with Crystal Palace +1.5, both due to stubborn Palace defending but more so, some very wasteful finishing from City, mainly so in the first period.
The away team dominated the entire game which was more or less attack versus defence.
Palace defended much better and with more success at limiting chances in a second half, which looked increasingly frustrating by the minute for Guardiola’s side.
In the end it was a naïve Olise attempted tackle which saw Manchester City get the penalty from which they won the game.
Haaland buried the penalty but he was one of several men which missed better chances scattered across this one sided match. Fair score 0-2.
With the narrow 0-1 victory, Manchester City secured the points and kept the pressure on league leaders, Arsenal.
As it turned out the Londoners had the perfect response and won the following day in Fulham. For Guardiola, the only disappointment was that it took until the 79th minute to score.
Erling Haaland had missed a sitter from six yards early in the match, the biggest of several dangerous moments as City laid siege on the host.
Crystal Palace kept men behind the ball and although they defended well in numbers after the early scares, limiting really clear chances, they did absolutely nothing to worry the opponent with the ball.
Phil Foden came close in a less productive second period. Guaita again denied the Englishman from a free kick.
Just as 0-0 was looking probable, a clever dive by Gündoğan in the area enabled Haaland to punish Palace and gain a vital win.
The Norwegian missed another chance to wrap up the win but headed over, but they never looked in trouble of conceding at any stage of the game and ran out comfortable 0-1 winners.
