Southampton v Tottenham – Betting Preview

Southampton Summary

Southampton come into the game after a disappointing midweek result which brought them back down to earth. This having held Manchester United at Old Trafford on the weekend.

Despite a little boost in the form under Ruben Sellés, they are sitting at rock bottom. However, there remains plenty of hope and a fair chance to get out of trouble due to how congested the bottom half of the EPL table is.

The mood and confidence remain decent with impressive outings in Chelsea (W1-0) as well as holding Man United.

They will have some respect for Spurs but the boss will likely have marked this as a match in that they can get a vital victory.

Looking at team news now. there is a new concern over attacking right back Walker-Peters, who may not be fit enough to face his former club.

Attacking right-back Livramento remains out long-term with a knee injury.

Tottenham Hotspur Summary

Tottenham’s season is now purely focused on finishing inside the Champions League places. Motivation should be strong here as a win would see them jump ahead of Manchester United into 3rd spot.

In the last few weeks, Spurs were eliminated from both the FA Cup and the Champions League, with indifferent league form in between.

On the back of such a lifeless effort from the team in the AC Milan 0-0 second leg, serious questions were raised about Antonio Conte’s ability to manage the players for the remaining months of his reign.

It is common knowledge that the boss will not be around next season, although he will not admit this publicly. What happens during the international break will be interesting, especially if the Londoners do not win against Southampton.

Either way, the morale and dressing room are unstable. They did look motivated and united against Forest, but the opponent was incredibly weak in that match.

Team news wise Tottenham have four absences but none of them are new,

Creative midfielder Bentancur’s absence is the most harmful, while Lloris and Bissouma also remain out.

Richarlison is set to keep his place with Kulusevski waiting on the bench.
