Nottingham Forest v Newcastle United – Betting Preview
Nottingham Forest Summary
Nottingham Forest hasn’t won a game since defeating Leeds at the start of February, and their confidence is dropping as a result of this.
They come into the game sitting just two points clear of the drop zone, in great need of three points to break this concerning winless streak.
The performance in Tottenham last weekend was so poor that it was on the verge of being uncompetitive. They were flattered by the 3-1 result in the end, and so the mood and belief right now is not ideal.
Their home form is much more impressive than their away form. And so while they will completely respect top four chasing Newcastle, they will aim for the three points here.
Team news wise they are missing Chris Wood who got a knock in the loss to Spurs. Fellow towering striker Awoniyi is also unfit, and so their options up top are limited.
Boly, Biancone, Henderson and Omar Richards remain out for the host.
Newcastle Summary
Fifth-placed Newcastle got back to winning ways with some good fortune in the 2-1 win over Wolves at home last weekend.
They have lost control of 4th spot and begin this weekend four points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who currently occupy the final UEFA Champions League spot.
The Magpies have seen their league form suffer badly since reaching the League cup final.
Manager Eddie Howe is confident however that the players can refocus now, and finish the campaign strongly.
For Newcastle, if they can make the top four then it will represent a magnificent season. But in order to achieve 4th spot this season, this really should be seen as a must win game.
The mood and team spirit are strong at the club despite the drop off in form.
The late win against Wolverhampton Wanderers boosted the belief that it will kick start them into a positive run to finish the campaign.
Team news wise, Eddie Howe will visit Forest missing combative midfielder Joelinton which is a notable concern.
The exciting Alan Gordon is also unavailable. On merit he would currently be pushing for a starting role or at the very least, be one of the first men to turn to on the subs bench if needing goals.
Ryan Fraser meanwhile also remains out.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 market first. Newcastle is the favourite to win @ 1.68.
The draw is @ 3.80, while the home win is @ 5.50.
Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. The home side Nottingham Forest will probably fancy themselves capable of winning this game, but a draw would also be satisfactory. Forest gets the draw onside +0.75 @ 1.97.
Newcastle need to win the game, but they would take any kind of victory. This doesn’t leave the -0.75 @ 1.89 attractive as only a two-goal margin gives the backer a full pay-out.
Looking at The Under/Over goal betting last of all. The line is set at 2.25, having opened initially at 2.5. Over is @ 1.81 and the Under is @ 2.02. A slight preference for Under here.
