Man City v Newcastle United: Betting Preview

Man City will resume the chase and try to reach Arsenal once again in the Saturday game valid for the 26th round of the 2022/23 EPL against Newcastle United.

The visitors aren’t in great spirits after losing the League Cup final against Man Utd last weekend, which makes them still a team that hasn’t lifted relevant silverware in the last 50+ years.

Man City won’t play next week in the UEFA Champions League which means they’ll be focused on this game, which translates in a very big faith from the markets on them right now.

Betting Analysis: Man City v Newcastle United

There’s no interesting value in the 1×2 odds of Man City, and for that reason, perhaps there may be some value in the Asian Handicap betting markets.

The current odds available for the victory of Man City are -1 @2.0 on average in the Asian Handicap market.

The odds may be a little unattractive as -1 is a big line considering the form of the visitors. However, we must remember that Newcastle is not living the best days of the season in terms of morale which may affect their focus after the failed attempt to lift some silverware against City’s rivals last Sunday at Wembley.

I believe Man City -1 isn’t quite attractive, but perhaps waiting for this line to melt into something between -1/4 and -3/4 ball with even odds could prove to be profitable if Guardiola fields a strong line-up especially considering that Haaland was rested and didn’t start the midweek game in the FA Cup against Bristol City.

I don’t see much value in the early market lines of over/under 2.75 @1.98/1.92 on average as it reflects correctly the potential of the game to produce goals.

In the first half markets, perhaps Man City -0.5 @2.0 could be a good bet if they pressure a lot in the first minutes and this tendency becomes clear. First half correct score betting markets can also be interesting if that scenario unfolds, as the odds for 1-0 and 2-0 as the HT score are 3.0 and 7.0 on average right now.
