Leicester City vs Blackburn – Betting Preview
It has occasionally been difficult for Kelechi Iheanacho to win over Brendan Rodgers, but without the Nigerian’s crucial goals against Gillingham and Walsall, the Foxes would not have been in the pot for the fifth-round draw!
Leicester City Preview
History repeated itself for Leicester at the home of Walsall, who frustrated Rodgers’ team for 68 minutes before Iheanacho came off the bench to settle the match, much as it had for Gillingham in round three when they relied on Iheanacho to upset them 1-0.
Leicester’s victory against Walsall in round four served as a temporary springboard for better fortunes, but their luck ran out in a 3-0 loss to Manchester United before Gabriel Martinelli scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 victory for Arsenal over the weekend.
This season, Leicester City has struggled to establish their superiority over lower-tier competition in the FA Cup, but the Foxes can at least take pride in having advanced from each of their last three fifth-round matches, all of which took place at the King Power Stadium by 1-0 scores.
Blackburn Preview
Blackburn Rovers are more focused on getting back into the Premier League than on winning the FA Cup for the seventh time, but Jon Dahl Tomasson’s team will welcome the chance to prove their mettle against a top-flight mainstay.
Blackburn played out a fun 2-2 draw with Birmingham in their first fourth-round match before also edging the replay thanks to a stroke of luck — Auston Trusty scoring an own goal in the 100th minute.
Blackburn also showed a penchant for 1-0 scores in the FA Cup, defeating Norwich City by that margin in round three.
After the journey to St. Andrew’s, Blackburn’s luck seemed to run out as Tomasson’s team drew in each of their next three Championship games.
Yet, they have now recorded three straight victories in the second division; the most recent of these was on Saturday afternoon, when they defeated Queens Park Rangers 3-1.
1×2 Betting Odds
Let’s analyse the 1×2 betting market.
On Tuesday, it is not difficult to see an in-form Blackburn destroying their more esteemed opponents. Yet, the Foxes last week gave Man United several scares and easily should have earned a point in their match against Arsenal on a different day!
So with that in mind, the home side are the market favourites to win @ 1.40.
We still believe that Rodgers’ team will get back to scoring goals and secure a spot in the quarterfinals, even if extra time is needed to resolve this exciting match!
So that means the Rovers are the underdogs in this @ 8.50.
The market odds of a stalemate and extra time to ensue, stands @ 5.30.
Total goals over/under
Let’s analyse the over/under market.
The odds that the total number of goals scored will be over 2.5, stands @ 1.75.
While the odds that the total number of goals will be under 2.5, stands @ 2.20.
Given the ability to score of both the teams, the market expects this one to have a few goals in it!
Leicester are a Premier League club playing at home, but given the form that Blackburn has been in, expect them to find their way to the scoresheet as well!
