Chelsea v Aston Villa – Betting Preview
Chelsea Summary
After back-to-back wins against Leeds and Dortmund and with Chelsea in danger of gaining momentum, typically of their season, they fell flat on their face with a 2-2 draw to Everton.
The win over Dortmund breathed new life and a positive vibe back into the club, but the reality is there is much more excitement and focus on the UCL compared to the EPL.
And with this in mind, motivation is not great for this midtable clash with Aston Villa. That said, they do need to win to keep the top six hopes alive.
Chelsea cannot afford to give up on chasing the top six unless they want to force themselves to win the UCL to be able to play European football next season.
Looking at team news now, where their most significant absence is easily Tiago Silva.
There are a few internationals that are in question due to knocks. The most important ones are Reece James and Kai Havertz. Should either miss out they are weaker, if both miss out then it is a more extreme reduction.
Sterling and Mason Mount are also both struggling to pass fit. Worth checking line ups for the punters wanting to be involved in this match.
Aston Villa Summary
Aston Villa is in reasonable form and sits in a respectable 11th place in the league before any matches this round has begun.
Unai Emery’s team has won three of the last four matches and will travel to London with confidence.
They got an impressive win over Bournemouth before the international break.
They will be happy with a draw in Chelsea, but will aim to grab a win and move into the top half of the EPL.
They’re extremely comfortable in midtable, closer to the top six than they are being dragged into the relegation zone.
The Midlanders will try to drum up a target of staying in the hunt for the top seven places come May time.
Looking at team news now; Matty Cash is a big doubt after picking up a knock while on duty with Poland.
Coutinho is almost certain to be missing with a thigh strain.
Steer is also out while Dendoncker has been permitted to have time off, so he won’t be available.
