Burnley v Fleetwood – FA Cup Betting Preview
Burnley Summary
With promotion out of the Championship as title winners looking a certainty, Burnley are likely to put added focus on the FA Cup. This in particular as there are plenty of top EPL teams which have already crashed out, increasing their chances to get to the semi-final or perhaps more.
Welcoming a league one opponent Fleetwood Town seemingly represents the perfect chance to set up a quarter-final run at least, but the club insist they will not take the opponent for granted.
Vincent Kompany’s charges are in sensational form and spirits are excellent. They will want to win this first leg even if the boss makes some rotations
Kompany is yet to taste a home defeat as Burnley boss, winning 15 times and drawing 5. They needed a replay to beat another third-tier side in the form of Ipswich the previous round, but will see anything less than a win in 90 minutes a bad result.
Looking at team news, Burnley have a handful of men set to miss out the cup tie.
The host are without Benson, Churlinov, Harwood Bellis, Maasten, and Jay Rodriguez. All of whom carry knocks or missing injured long term.
Fleetwood Town Summary
League one side Fleetwood are sitting in midtable of their division, but their recent form is impressive, winning 5 out of their last 6 matches.
They are managed by ex-Celtic midfielder Scott Brown. He was very much a hard-man type defensive midfielder and demands the same commitment from this team.
Fleetwood’s recent upturn in wins owes plenty to an excellent defensive record.
They have kept four consecutive clean sheets and haven’t conceded a goal since the 11th February. That lone goal came in a 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic.
The mood and confidence are good. The expectation is that Fleetwood will fight for everything as they seek to extend their best-ever FA Cup run.
Fleetwood never played in the fifth round, so the prospect of a quarter-final will be mouth-watering for the Lancashire club.
They beat local neighbours Morecambe on the weekend and that 1-0 result marked a sixth successive unbeaten game.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 market first. Burnley are a clear favourite which makes sense as they are more or less already an EPL club barring miracles. Burnley is @ 1.28.
Fleetwood to win is @ 10.50 while the draw is @ 5.75.
Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. Fleetwood get a big +1.5 start @ 2.03. Considering eight of Fleetwood’s last nine FA Cup away wins came against non-league sides, it’s a massive step up against Premier League-bound Burnley.
Burnley -1.5 is @ 1.80.
Looking at The Under/Over goal line last of all. Burnley like to entertain and score goals, perhaps more so with the spotlight on them in this contest.
Over 2.75 is @ 1.80 and Under is @ 1.96.
