After that the game came to a long, indecisive standstill without either team managing to score. In the 67th minute, Denzel Dumfries scored a goal, from a pass from Donyell Malen, to increase the lead for Netherlands, what brought the final score to 2-0.
With one game remaining, in the qualifiers Netherlands are at the top of the table and Austria are in third.
The teams play again on Monday, with Netherlands hosting North Macedonia and Austria hosting Ukraine.
