The decision to sign Jakupovic on a short-term deal was made despite Everton playing just one Premier League game until the end of September. Everton FC announced through Everton’s official Twitter account on September 13 that due to injuries to Jordan Pickford and Andy Lonergan, Eldin Jakupovic has signed a contract with the club. The Foxes dismissed the 37-year-old after last season when his contract expired, and he has been a free agent since.
Frank Lampard also has Asmir Begovic at his service, and the former Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Portsmouth goalkeeper is expected to feature against West Ham on Sunday. Jakupovic, on the other hand, will be available, with the Switzerland player looking for a rare opportunity to play in the Premier League once more. The veteran has not been a consistent first-choice player during his time, especially after relocating to England in 2012 and signing with Hull. Despite spending five years with the Tigers, the Bosnian-born goalkeeper only made 53 appearances in all competitions. He joined Leicester in 2017 and stayed until earlier this summer, but he only made two Premier League appearances during that time.

The United icon took a late free-kick that would have been a storybook way to conclude his legendary career. Still, Jakupovic produced a flying stop for which he later apologised to the Welshman.
