Norwich City were defeated at home by Leicester City which was their third defeat of the season in as many games. The Canaries are still struggling to earn their first points of the Premier League 2021/22 season.
Jamie Vardy secured a lead for the visitors early in the game but Norwich City seemed to dominate possession of the ball for the first 30 minutes of the game. Teemu Pukki equalised for the Canaries just before halftime from the penalty spot. Marc Albrighton scored the winner for Leicester in the 76th minute with a deflected shot that flew past Norwich keeper Tim Krul. Norwich thought they had scored a second equaliser, but the goal was denied after a VAR check for a possible offside.
The overall stats show Norwich were the better side while attacking the goal and deserved more from this game, but were unable to make most of the chances they created. Norwich were able to reach the opponents half 60 times but failed to get many balls into the penalty box as they reached the opponent box only 8 times throughout the game. They were able to get 14 attempts on goal with 5 of those attempts on target.
As seen in the above visual, 10 Norwich players attempted a shot on goal but were able to only get 5 shots on target. Todd Cantwell, the promising young attacker, failed to get even one shot on target. Leicester on the other hand had 3 shots on target and were able to score two of them.
Norwich City put immense pressure on the Leicester City goal in the last 15 minutes of the match as they dominated possession of the ball and had almost half of their attempted shots in this period.
It was a rather morale-boosting performance for the Canaries as they were clearly the better side in the second half. But in the end, it boiled down to missed chances in front of goal and a mistake that led to the first Leicester goal.
